How it all began
Fall of 2012
Dr. Bott’s Chemistry Class - University of Houston
At this time, Vyvan was attending Houston Community College and Jon was attending the University of Houston.
Vyvan had just finished her classes for the day and met up with her friend that was attending UH. From UH they both went to her friend’s class - Dr. Bott’s Chem Class.
Jon was sitting in front of Vyvan and Dr. Bott had announced and ask that everyone take a piece of paper out for a pop quiz. Jon turned around and asked Vyvan if he could borrow a pencil and without hesitation and with sass and attitude, Vyvan responded with, “I don’t even go here.” From that instant moment, Jon turned around and thought this was this girl was the biggest B… in the world.

Café 101 and GB’s G.I. Joe Party
Vyvan transferred to the University of Houston. During her in between class period, she was spending time with a group of friends at UH’s library, specifically the third floor.
Jon had just finished one of his classes. He met up with a mutual friend and they both came to the library, to the third floor. They both joined the group of friends that Vyvan was sitting with. From there, Jon spotted Vyvan. To this day, his vivid memory of what she was wearing on that day… olive pants, sporting a beanie and Timberland boots. He was struck with how put together she was. They both got introduced and didn’t realize that they had previously met.
The group had mentioned that they all wanted to show some support to a sorority that held a fundraiser at Café 101 that was on campus. Jon and Vyvan joined the group and they all walked to the destination. Jon and Vyvan conversated during their walk and got to know each other a little further at the fundraiser.
As the semester went on, Jon and Vyvan would bump into each other at many mutual events.

Jon and Vyvan had spent some time together before the semester ended and had their first movie night watching, Mama, at his house he shared with some roommates/Fraternity brothers. There, Vyvan met Jon’s puppy, Talia which now is reborn again, Butters… (if you know her story, Butters is a happy fur baby and is stuck with us forever)

Chili’s
After some time when the school semester had started, Jon and Vyvan had planned their first date. The Chili’s right off of Buffalo Speedway and 59.
There they shared dislikes and likes, common interests and Vyvan learned that Jon does not like cheese and eggs. She was confused as to how someone in hospitality didn’t like common food items and was taken back as she loved cheese and eggs.

Bae
A couple of months in, Jon and Vyvan’s relationship started to form and blossom. Things got serious. Jon’s sorority sister, Judy, (Vyvan’s Maid of Honor and Partner in Crime) was looking for someone to adopt her puppy as her apartment didn’t allow her to. Jon showed Vyvan a picture of Casey. Jon decided to adopt Casey and Vyvan decided she would help. They both decided to change Casey’s name to Bae - Bacon And Eggs.
The Engagement
10.21.2022
It’s fall season and we are in one of our favorite cities to visit - Denver, Colorado. Jon and I were on a trip with our close group of friends to see one of our favorite DJ performers, Gryffin at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The agenda for the day was to drive to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in the morning to watch the sun rise on the steps followed by other activities through out the day before the performance.
The group woke up and got ready and we hit the road, which was about 20 mins from the Air-B-Nb. At this point, we had missed the Sun Rise time, but we still wanted to drive to Red Rocks. Once we arrived to Red Rocks, we walked or hiked to the steps and viewed the beautiful mountains and scenery. It was time to go and when we were heading down, we all stopped to take pictures.
As we reached a certain area, Jon and I were taking some pictures looking at the mountains and as we turned, Jon stopped me and got on his knee and asked the question… “Are you ready?” It was a blackout moment for me as I was in shock and tears were flowing. To this day, I can’t remember if I said yes, but I sure did tell him to put the ring on my finger. After one of the biggest moments, we cried and took some pictures with the group and called each of our family members.
And the rest is history…
A rollercoaster of ups and downs, adventure trips to Chicago, Seattle, New York, Denver and more, five homes and one apartment, ten years later, we are finally starting a new chapter…
We are getting married and are
incredibly excited for you all to be part of our celebration!
